Possible Causes

Lid not fully closed, Lid position microswitch misaligned, Broken lid switch actuator tab, Damaged lid switch wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the multicooker before any inspection. Never bypass safety switches during cooking.

Step-by-step:

  • Check lid closure: Open and close the lid firmly. Ensure the hinge is not obstructed by food debris or a misaligned inner lid.
  • Inspect lid lock area: Look at the latch and the small plastic tab or cam that presses the lid switch (usually near the handle or hinge). If it is cracked or missing, the switch will not be actuated.
  • Clean the hinge and latch: Wipe away dried food or starch that may prevent full closure.
  • Test with gentle pressure: With the unit plugged in and in standby, gently press down on the lid and try to start a program. If it starts only when pressed, the lid switch or actuator is misaligned.
  • Internal check (advanced): Unplug the unit, remove the top cover (screws under the lid trim). Locate the lid position microswitch and its wiring. Check for loose connectors or broken wires. Do not operate the unit with covers removed.

If the lid must be held down to work, replace the lid switch or the lid latch/actuator assembly.
