Possible Causes
Open-circuit main NTC sensor, Disconnected sensor plug on control board, Broken sensor wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector at heater plate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels.
- Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try a simple program (e.g. reheat). If E1 returns immediately, proceed to inspection.
- Access the base: Turn the cooker upside down on a soft cloth. Remove the base screws and carefully lift off the bottom cover.
- Locate the NTC sensor: On Kenwood multicookers, the main NTC is usually clipped to or embedded in the heater plate under the inner pot. Follow the thin sensor wires from the plate to the control PCB.
- Check connectors: Ensure the sensor plug is fully seated on the control board and at the sensor end (if it has a local connector). Look for corrosion or burnt pins.
- Visual inspection: Check for cut, pinched, or melted sensor wires around the heater plate and strain relief.
If the wiring and connectors look intact but E1 persists, the NTC sensor is likely open and should be replaced.
