Possible Causes

Inner pot not seated correctly, Deformed or non-original inner pot, Burnt-on food causing localized overheating, Faulty thermal fuse or thermostat on heater plate

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool. Do not touch the heater plate while hot.

  • Check inner pot: Ensure you are using the original Kenwood inner pot. Inspect the base for warping or dents that prevent full contact with the heater plate.
  • Clean heater plate: Remove the pot and gently wipe the heater plate with a soft cloth. Remove any burnt food or sugar deposits. Do not scratch the surface.
  • Check for foreign objects: Make sure there is nothing between the pot and heater plate (e.g. rice grains, foil, paper).
  • Try a water test: Add at least 2 cups of water to the pot, reinstall, and run a basic boil or steam program. If E3 appears quickly again, the overheat protection or sensor may be faulty.

If E3 recurs with a clean plate and correct pot, the thermal fuse/thermostat or control board may need replacement and should be checked by a qualified technician.
