Possible Causes
Faulty pressure sensor on lid or chassis, Blocked pressure sensor tube, Loose pressure sensor connector on control board, Damaged pressure sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the cooker is fully depressurized and unplugged before inspection. Never open the lid under pressure.
- Clean steam path: Remove and clean the steam release valve and anti-block shield (metal or plastic cap over the steam outlet). Soak in warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
- Inspect pressure sensor port: On many Kenwood models, a small silicone tube or channel connects the lid steam area to a pressure sensor. Check for starch buildup or blockage and gently clear it with a soft brush or pipe cleaner.
- Check connectors: If accessible, remove the top cover and locate the pressure sensor (small module with two wires or a ribbon cable). Ensure its connector is firmly seated on the control PCB.
- Test with water: Add water to the pot, close the lid, and run a short pressure program. If E4 appears immediately, the sensor or board is likely defective.
Persistent E4 after cleaning and connector checks usually requires replacement of the pressure sensor assembly.
