Possible Causes
Lid not locked, Inner pot not detected, Faulty lid lock switch, Faulty pot detection microswitch under heater plate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before internal checks.
- Check lid and pot: Ensure the inner pot is correctly seated and the lid is fully closed and locked. Some Kenwood models will not start without both conditions.
- Try different modes: Attempt a non-pressure program (e.g. sauté) to see if any mode will start. This can help isolate lid vs. pressure interlock issues.
- Inspect pot detection: Remove the inner pot and look for a small spring-loaded pin or microswitch in the heater plate area. Press it gently; it should move freely.
- Internal switch check (advanced): Remove the top or bottom cover to access the lid lock and pot detection switches. Check for broken actuators or disconnected wires.
If the cooker still refuses to start with lid and pot correctly installed, the interlock switches or control board input circuit may need replacement.
