Possible Causes
Unplugged or loose temperature sensor connector, Broken NTC sensor lead, Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Failed main control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before any inspection.
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try a simple program (e.g., Keep Warm). If E2 returns immediately, continue.
- Inspect bottom sensor wiring: On most KitchenAid multicookers, the main temperature sensor is mounted under the inner heating plate. If you can remove the bottom cover (screws on underside), check that the small two-wire sensor connector is firmly plugged into the control board.
- Look for damage: Examine the sensor wires for cuts, burn marks, or pinched sections near the base or hinge area.
- Check sensor resistance (advanced): Using a multimeter on the disconnected sensor, measure resistance at room temperature. A typical NTC will read between 50k–100k ohms (exact value depends on model). An infinite reading indicates an open sensor that must be replaced.
- When to call a technician: If the sensor and wiring appear intact but E2 persists, the control board’s sensor circuit may be defective and requires professional diagnosis and replacement.
