Possible Causes
Shorted NTC sensor, Moisture intrusion at sensor connector, Melted or shorted sensor wiring, Failed control board sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and let it cool fully. Do not operate if you smell burning or see smoke.
- Dry the cooker: If liquid has boiled over into the base, remove the inner pot, wipe all accessible surfaces, and allow the unit to air dry for at least 24 hours before retrying.
- Inspect sensor area: From the underside (if accessible), check the sensor and wiring for signs of moisture, corrosion, or melted insulation. Gently dry with a soft cloth; do not use a heat gun.
- Check for pinched wires: Look where the wiring passes near the hinge or base frame. If insulation is damaged and wires are touching metal, the sensor circuit can short.
- Test sensor resistance (advanced): Disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance. A reading near 0 ohms indicates a shorted sensor that must be replaced.
- When to call a technician: If the sensor tests good but E3 persists, the control board may be misreading the sensor and should be evaluated by a professional.
