Possible Causes

Insufficient liquid in pot, Lid not sealed properly, Damaged or dirty silicone gasket, Steam release valve not in Sealing position

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure all pressure is released before opening the lid.

  • Check liquid level: Open the lid and verify that you have at least the minimum liquid recommended by KitchenAid for pressure cooking (often 1–2 cups).
  • Inspect gasket: Remove the silicone gasket, wash it with warm soapy water, dry thoroughly, and reinstall it evenly in the lid groove. Replace if stretched, cracked, or hardened.
  • Set steam valve correctly: Make sure the steam release or pressure regulator knob is in the Sealing position, not Venting.
  • Clean float valve: Ensure the float valve moves freely up and down and is not blocked by food residue. Clean and reassemble.
  • Retry cycle: Reassemble, lock the lid, and start the pressure program again. If PrE repeats, there may be a leak or pressure sensor issue requiring service.
