Possible Causes
Food residue under lid gasket, Residue in steam vent or anti-block shield, Inner pot not cleaned promptly, Silicone gasket absorbing odors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker before deep cleaning.
- Deep clean lid: Remove the gasket, anti-block shield, and any removable lid parts. Wash thoroughly with warm soapy water and dry completely.
- Clean steam path: Use a small brush to clean the steam release valve, float valve, and vent channels.
- Deodorize gasket and pot: Soak the gasket and inner pot in a solution of warm water and baking soda for 30 minutes, then rinse and dry.
- Store with lid open: When not in use, store the cooker with the lid slightly open to allow air circulation and reduce odor buildup.
- Replace gasket if needed: If odors persist, replace the silicone gasket, which can absorb strong smells over time.
