Possible Causes

Damaged or hardened silicone gasket, Lid not aligned with body, Steam release valve stuck in vent position, Debris on sealing surface preventing airtight closure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the cooker is unplugged and fully depressurized before opening the lid.

  • Inspect silicone gasket: Remove the inner silicone ring from the lid. Check for cracks, deformation, or hard spots. Clean it with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. Replace if worn.
  • Clean sealing surfaces: Wipe the stainless-steel rim of the inner pot and the lid sealing groove with a damp cloth to remove food residue or oil.
  • Check steam release valve position: Ensure the valve is set to the correct "Seal" or pressure position according to the Lagostina model markings, not to "Vent".
  • Verify anti-block shield: Make sure the anti-block shield is correctly installed under the valve and not warped or clogged.
  • Test with water only: Add 2–3 cups of water, close the lid, set a short pressure program, and observe if steam leaks around the lid. If it does, replace the gasket with an original Lagostina sealing ring.

Persistent E8 after gasket replacement may indicate a warped lid or body, which usually requires professional evaluation.
