Possible Causes
Inner pot not seated correctly, Insufficient liquid in pot, Food stuck and burning on heating plate, Faulty overheat sensor or thermal fuse
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool. Do not attempt to open the lid if it is still under pressure.
- Check liquid level: Ensure you are using the minimum liquid specified in the Lakeland manual (often at least 250–500 ml for pressure cooking). Too little liquid causes rapid overheating and E3.
- Inspect inner pot seating: Remove the inner pot and check that the bottom is clean and flat. Wipe the heating plate and the underside of the pot to remove any burnt-on food or debris, then reseat the pot firmly and evenly.
- Clean the heating plate: With the unit unplugged, gently clean the aluminium heating plate with a soft cloth. Do not scratch or gouge the surface. Ensure there is no warped foil or foreign object between the plate and the pot.
- Try a low-heat program: After cleaning and refilling with adequate liquid, try a low-temperature program (e.g. 'Slow Cook'). If E3 appears immediately, the overheat sensor or thermal fuse may be faulty.
- When to replace: Persistent E3 with correct usage suggests a failing overheat thermostat or thermal fuse on the heating plate assembly. These parts are internal and should be replaced by a qualified technician due to mains voltage exposure.
