Lid will not open after cooking; appears stuck even though cooking has finished.

Safety first: Never force the lid open. Forcing it can cause sudden release of hot steam and food.

• Check pressure indicator: Ensure the float valve or pressure indicator pin has dropped fully. If it is still raised, there is pressure inside.
• Use natural release: Allow the cooker to sit unplugged for 15–30 minutes to release pressure naturally.
• Gently move valve: Carefully move the steam release valve to 'Venting' with a long utensil to ensure all pressure is released.
• Free the lock pin: Once fully depressurised and cool, gently tap around the lid lock pin area with a wooden spoon to free any stuck components.
• Clean lock mechanism: After opening, clean the lid lock pin and surrounding area thoroughly to remove dried food.
• When to replace: If the lid frequently sticks, the lid lock assembly or float valve may be worn and should be replaced.
