Possible Causes
Open main heating element, Failed relay/triac on PCB, Tripped thermal fuse, Loose heater wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool before removing any covers.
- Test with sauté mode: Select a high-heat mode like 'Sauté' or 'Brown'. If the plate does not warm within a few minutes, the heating circuit is likely faulty.
- Listen for relay click: When starting a program, listen for a soft click from inside the base. No click may indicate a failed relay or control board.
- Inspect wiring (advanced): Remove the base cover and check that the spade connectors on the heating element are firmly attached and not burnt.
- Check thermal fuse: Many Lakeland multicookers have a thermal fuse attached to the heating plate wiring. If it has blown (often visibly discoloured), it must be replaced with the exact same rating.
- When to replace: If wiring and fuse are intact, the main heating element or main control PCB is likely defective and should be replaced by a technician.
