How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Never force the lid open. Forcing can cause sudden steam release and injury.

Steps:

Ensure the steam release valve is in the 'Venting' position and wait several minutes for all pressure to escape.
Gently tap the float valve with a utensil to help it drop if it is stuck.
Once you are certain there is no pressure (float valve down, no steam), try opening the lid with gentle, even force.

If still stuck:

Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely; thermal expansion can sometimes bind the lid.
If the lid remains jammed, the lock mechanism may be mechanically broken and should be accessed from the top cover by a technician to avoid damage.
