Possible Causes
Residual pressure not fully released, Stuck float valve in raised position, Jammed lid lock mechanism, Warped lid components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Never force the lid open. Forcing can cause sudden steam release and injury.
Steps:
- Ensure the steam release valve is in the 'Venting' position and wait several minutes for all pressure to escape.
- Gently tap the float valve with a utensil to help it drop if it is stuck.
- Once you are certain there is no pressure (float valve down, no steam), try opening the lid with gentle, even force.
If still stuck:
- Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely; thermal expansion can sometimes bind the lid.
- If the lid remains jammed, the lock mechanism may be mechanically broken and should be accessed from the top cover by a technician to avoid damage.
