Possible Causes
Food or oil spilled onto heating plate, Residue on outer bottom of inner pot, Overheating due to poor pot contact
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Clean inner pot exterior: Wash the outside bottom of the inner pot to remove any burnt-on residue or oil.
- Clean heating plate: Wipe the heating plate and surrounding area with a damp cloth and mild detergent if needed. Do not pour water into the base.
- Check for discoloration: If the heating plate is heavily discolored or pitted, it may have been overheated repeatedly and should be inspected for warping.
- Test with water: Run a short water-only cycle to see if the smell persists. If it does, inspect internal wiring and components for overheating.
Warning: Persistent burning smell with no visible cause may indicate internal electrical overheating; discontinue use and seek service.
