Possible Causes
Steam release valve set to vent instead of seal, Damaged or misfitted silicone sealing ring, Debris on lid sealing surface preventing pressure buildup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and ensure it is cool enough to handle.
- Check steam release valve: Verify the valve handle is in the Seal position according to the Midea model markings. Clean the valve cap and ensure it moves freely.
- Inspect sealing ring: Remove the inner lid and silicone sealing ring. Wash with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry. Check for cracks, stretching, or hardening. Reinstall firmly in the groove.
- Clean lid and rim: Wipe the stainless steel rim of the cooker body and the lid contact surface to remove food residue or starch that can prevent sealing.
- Test again: Add water to the minimum line, close the lid, set to Seal, and run a pressure program. If E5 still appears, the pressure sensor calibration or lid locking mechanism may be faulty.
