Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before touching the heating plate.
Steps to resolve:
- Check pot placement: Ensure the original Morphy Richards non-stick inner pot is installed and fully seated on the heating plate. Do not operate the cooker without the pot.
- Verify liquid level: For pressure and rice programs, ensure you meet the minimum liquid requirement specified in the manual (typically at least 250–500 ml). Running the cooker nearly dry can trigger E3.
- Inspect the heating plate: Remove any burnt food or debris from the plate using a soft cloth. Do not scratch or gouge the surface.
- Check thermal cut-out: Access the base and locate the thermal fuse or bimetal thermostat attached to the heating plate or chassis. If it looks discoloured or cracked, it may be weakening and tripping too early. Test continuity with a multimeter; replace if open or intermittent.
- Reset and test: After cooling and cleaning, reassemble, add sufficient water, and run a short program. If E3 no longer appears, the issue was likely dry heating.
Note: If E3 recurs even with correct liquid levels and a good thermal fuse, the control PCB may be misreading temperature and should be checked by a service technician.
