E5 error appears shortly after starting a program; cooker may not heat at all.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and wait for it to cool. Work on a dry, stable surface.
Diagnostic steps:
- Access the base: Remove the screws holding the bottom cover and carefully lift it off to expose the heating element and wiring.
- Inspect wiring: Look for burnt, loose, or disconnected wires going to the circular heating element. Tighten any loose spade connectors and replace any heat-damaged wiring with high-temperature cable.
- Test the element: Disconnect at least one wire from the heating element and measure resistance across its terminals with a multimeter. A typical element will read between 20–80 Ω (varies by wattage). If the reading is OL (open), the element is faulty.
- Check for chassis shorts: Measure between each element terminal and the metal chassis. Any low resistance indicates a short and the element must be replaced.
- Replace the element: If defective, remove the mounting screws or clips holding the heating plate/element assembly, transfer any sensors or insulation, and install a new Morphy Richards heating element assembly.
Note: If the element tests good but E5 persists, the control PCB's heater relay or triac may be faulty and should be serviced by a professional.
