How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker before inspecting the lid mechanism. Do not force the lid closed with excessive pressure.
Steps to resolve:
- Check lid closure: Ensure the lid is fully rotated or pressed into the locked position as per the user manual. Remove any food debris from the rim and locking lugs.
- Inspect the latch: Look at the metal or plastic latch hook on the lid and the catch on the body. If bent or worn, the hook may not fully engage the microswitch lever.
- Access the lid switch: Remove the top cover (or inner lid trim) to locate the small microswitch or magnetic reed switch that detects lid closure. Check that its actuator is not broken.
- Test the switch: With a multimeter in continuity mode, operate the lid and confirm the switch opens and closes correctly. If not, replace the switch with a compatible Morphy Richards lid switch.
- Check wiring: Follow the switch wires back to the PCB and ensure there are no breaks or loose connectors.
Note: If the mechanical parts are intact and the switch tests good, the fault may be on the control PCB input circuit.
