Possible Causes
Worn or incorrectly fitted silicone sealing ring, Debris on lid or pot rim preventing seal, Damaged or mis-seated float valve seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep hands and face away from escaping steam. Allow the cooker to cool and depressurize before disassembly.
Steps to fix:
- Clean sealing surfaces: Remove the inner pot and wipe the top rim of the pot and the stainless-steel lid ring with a damp cloth to remove food residue.
- Inspect sealing ring: Remove the silicone ring from the lid. Check for cracks, flattening, or hard spots. If more than 1–2 years old or visibly damaged, replace it.
- Refit correctly: Ensure the new or cleaned ring is fully seated in its groove all the way around, with no twists.
- Check float valve and cap: Remove the float valve pin and silicone cap. Clean both parts and the valve hole. Replace the silicone cap if it is split or hardened.
- Test with water: Run a short pressure program with only water. If steam no longer leaks and the float rises, the issue is resolved.
Note: Always use genuine Morphy Richards sealing rings for correct fit and safety.
