Possible Causes
Faulty Start button on membrane keypad, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Control PCB input failure for Start key
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker before removing the control panel.
Steps to resolve:
- Confirm basic conditions: Ensure the lid is correctly closed (for pressure programs) and the inner pot is in place. Some models will not start if these are not satisfied.
- Test other buttons: Check if other keys (Menu, Time, +/-) respond. If only Start is unresponsive, the Start contact on the keypad is likely faulty.
- Inspect keypad connection: Remove the front panel and reseat the keypad ribbon cable or connector on the display PCB.
- Check for cracks: Look for cracks in the front PCB or corrosion around the keypad contacts.
- Replace keypad or panel: If the Start button remains non-functional, replace the membrane keypad or the complete front control panel assembly with a Morphy Richards spare.
Note: If no buttons respond at all, the issue may be with the control PCB rather than the keypad.
