Possible Causes
Partially failed heating element with increased resistance, Poor contact between inner pot and heating plate, Faulty temperature sensor reading too high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and allow to cool before inspecting the heating area.
Steps to diagnose:
- Check pot contact: Ensure you are using the original Morphy Richards inner pot. Its base must be flat and clean. Warped or dented pots reduce heat transfer and should be replaced.
- Clean heating plate: Wipe the heating plate with a soft, dry cloth. Remove any burnt-on food that may create gaps.
- Measure element resistance: From the base, test the heating element resistance and compare with specifications (if available). A significantly higher resistance than normal can reduce power output.
- Check sensor: A sensor reading too high will cause the control to limit power. Test or replace the NTC sensor if E1/E2/E3-type symptoms also occur.
- Test with water: Time how long it takes to bring 1 litre of water to a boil on a high-heat program. If it is much slower than expected, the element or control PCB may need replacement.
