Multicooker displays E1 and refuses to start or aborts cooking shortly after starting.

Safety first: Unplug the appliance and let it cool completely before touching the inner pot area.

Inspection steps:

• Remove the inner pot: Take out the removable bowl to expose the central heating plate and sensor area.
• Locate the NTC sensor: On most Moulinex multicookers, a small metal or ceramic sensor is mounted near the center of the heating plate or in a small well under the pot. Look for a small probe with two wires leading underneath.
• Check the connector: From the underside (if accessible via a bottom cover), verify that the NTC sensor plug is firmly seated on the main board or intermediate connector. Reseat any loose connectors.
• Inspect for damage: Look for burnt, cut, or pinched wires around the heating plate and hinge area. Any visible damage indicates the harness or sensor must be replaced.
• Clean the sensor area: Wipe away any burnt food or residue around the sensor well with a soft cloth. Do not scratch or bend the sensor.
• Test: Reassemble, plug in, and start a short program. If E1 reappears immediately, the NTC sensor is likely open and needs replacement.

Note: Measuring the sensor with a multimeter (resistance at room temperature) is recommended but should be done only if you are comfortable working with electronics. Otherwise, contact a service center.
