How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and ensure there is no pressure inside. Use the steam release valve to fully depressurize before opening the lid.
Steps:
- Clean the lid sensor area: On many Moulinex pressure multicookers, a small sensor is located near the steam outlet or under a metal cover in the lid. Wipe away grease, food splatter, and scale with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the lid in water unless the manual explicitly allows it.
- Check the flexible cable: Inspect the cable that runs from the lid to the body (often through the hinge). Look for kinks, cuts, or pinched sections. If the cable is damaged, it must be replaced.
- Verify connectors: If you can safely remove the top cover (only if comfortable and out of warranty), check that the lid sensor connector is firmly seated on the control board.
- Test on a non-pressure program: Try a low-temperature program (e.g., keep warm) with the lid open or loosely closed. If E4 appears even then, the lid sensor circuit is likely defective.
Service note: Lid sensor replacement usually requires partial disassembly of the lid and hinge assembly. This is best handled by an authorized Moulinex service center.
