Possible Causes

Blocked steam release valve, Clogged safety valve or anti-block shield, Faulty pressure sensor, Excessive filling above MAX line causing foam and blockage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power. Allow the cooker to cool and depressurize completely before attempting any cleaning. Never force the lid open under pressure.

Unblocking and inspection:

  • Check fill level: Ensure food and liquid are always below the MAX mark, especially for foaming foods like beans, rice, and soups.
  • Clean the steam release valve: Remove the valve cap (if removable) and rinse it under warm water. Use a small brush or toothpick to clear any food particles. Dry thoroughly.
  • Clean the anti-block shield: Many Moulinex lids have a metal or plastic shield over the steam outlet. Remove it according to the manual and clean both sides to remove starch buildup.
  • Inspect the safety valve: Ensure the floating valve moves freely up and down. Clean around it to remove dried food.
  • Test again: Reassemble all parts correctly, add an appropriate amount of water only, and run a short pressure program. If E5 persists with clean valves and correct fill, the pressure sensor or control board may be defective.

Warning: Do not bypass or modify any safety valves. If you suspect a faulty pressure sensor, contact a qualified technician.
