Moulinex Lid Stuck / Residual Pressure Lock

Lid cannot be opened after cooking; it feels jammed even though cooking is finished.

Possible Causes

Residual pressure not fully released, Floating valve stuck in up position, Food debris blocking pressure release, Warped lid lock mechanism

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Never force the lid open. Forcing can cause sudden steam release and burns.

Steps:

  • Check pressure indicator: Ensure the floating valve has dropped fully. If not, gently tap the lid near the valve with a wooden spoon.
  • Move steam release valve: Carefully turn the steam release knob to the venting position using a utensil, keeping your hands away from the steam path.
  • Cool down: If the lid remains stuck, unplug the cooker and allow it to cool for 30–60 minutes. As the contents cool, pressure will drop.
  • Clean after opening: Once open, thoroughly clean the floating valve, steam release valve, and anti-block shield to prevent future sticking.

If the mechanical lock is damaged or misaligned, the lid lock assembly may need replacement.
