Moulinex Pressure Not Building / Steam Leakage

Multicooker takes excessively long to reach pressure or never reaches pressure; steam constantly escapes from the lid.

Possible Causes

Damaged or hardened silicone gasket, Steam release valve stuck in open position, Debris on lid sealing surface, Misaligned lid or warped inner pot rim

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Keep hands away from escaping steam. Turn off and unplug the cooker if pressure does not build within the expected time.

Steps:

  • Inspect gasket: Remove the silicone sealing ring from the lid. Check for cracks, deformation, or hardening. Clean it with warm soapy water, rinse, dry, and reinstall. Replace if damaged.
  • Clean lid rim: Wipe the stainless-steel rim of the pot and the lid sealing surface to remove food residue.
  • Check valve position: Ensure the steam release knob is set to the "closed" or "pressure" position as indicated in the Moulinex manual.
  • Test with water only: Add about 500 ml of water and run a short pressure program. If steam still escapes continuously, replace the gasket and inspect the valve assembly.
