Possible Causes
Worn membrane keypad on Nesco front panel, Moisture ingress under control overlay, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and PCB, Failed tact switches on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker before working on the control panel.
- Clean surface: Wipe the keypad with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove grease and dirt. Do not allow liquid to seep into the panel edges.
- Test multiple buttons: Note which buttons fail; if only certain keys are affected, the issue is likely local to those switches.
- Inspect ribbon cable (advanced): Remove the outer housing to access the keypad ribbon cable. Reseat it firmly in the connector.
- Check tact switches: On models with individual tact switches, press them directly (with power disconnected) to feel for a positive click. Replace any that feel mushy or stuck.
- Replace keypad assembly: If the membrane overlay is worn or cracked, replace the entire keypad/front panel assembly with a compatible Nesco part.
Warning: Avoid using sharp objects to press buttons; this can puncture the membrane and worsen the problem.
