Possible Causes

Loose NTC sensor connector on main board, Broken NTC temperature sensor lead under inner pot, Damaged wiring harness between sensor and control PCB, Failed NTC sensor element

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Nesco multicooker and allow it to cool completely before opening any panels. Never work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Check for obvious misplacement of the inner pot: Remove the inner pot, wipe the bottom dry, and reseat it firmly. An improperly seated pot can sometimes trigger E1.
  • Inspect the sensor area: With the pot removed, locate the small metal disc or button in the center of the heating plate (this is the bottom NTC sensor). Make sure it is clean, not bent, and not covered with burnt food or residue. Wipe gently with a soft cloth.
  • Access the base (for experienced DIYers): Turn the cooker upside down on a towel. Remove the screws securing the bottom cover. Carefully lift the cover and locate the two small wires from the bottom sensor going to the control PCB. Ensure the plug is fully seated and there are no broken or frayed wires.
  • Test continuity (optional): Using a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the NTC sensor leads. A typical reading will be in the kilo-ohm range at room temperature. An open circuit (infinite resistance) indicates a failed sensor that must be replaced.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the bottom cover, tighten screws, reseat the inner pot, and test a short program with water only. If E1 persists after confirming wiring and cleanliness, the sensor assembly likely needs replacement.

Warning: If you are not comfortable opening the base or using a multimeter, stop after cleaning and reseating the pot and contact a qualified appliance technician or Nesco support.
