Possible Causes

Faulty lid closed sensor, Misaligned lid hinge or locking ring, Broken plastic tab that actuates the lid switch, Loose wiring to lid interlock

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting the lid mechanism.

  • Verify lid alignment: Open and close the lid, checking that the hinge is not loose and that the lid sits evenly on the body. Tighten any accessible hinge screws.
  • Inspect actuator tab: Look for a small plastic or metal tab on the lid that presses a switch on the body when closed. If it is worn, cracked, or missing, the switch will not register the lid as closed.
  • Manually test the switch: With the cooker unplugged and lid open, gently press the switch lever with a non-metallic tool. You should feel a click. If not, the switch may be defective.
  • Adjust or replace parts: If the tab does not reach the switch, minor adjustments to the lid or switch mounting position may restore contact. Severely worn parts should be replaced.
  • Re-test: After adjustments, plug in the cooker and attempt a pressure program with water only to confirm the error is cleared.

Warning: Do not tape or permanently depress the lid switch; this disables a key safety feature.
