Nesco
Lid Seal Failure / Steam Leak
Multicooker heats but will not build pressure; steam constantly escapes from the lid area during pressure cooking.

Possible Causes
Worn or stretched Nesco silicone sealing ring, Debris on lid or pot rim preventing seal, Damaged or misseated steam release valve, Cracked lid or deformed inner pot rim
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the cooker to cool and fully depressurize before opening the lid.
- Clean sealing surfaces: Remove the sealing ring and wash it with warm soapy water. Clean the lid groove and the top rim of the inner pot. Dry thoroughly.
- Inspect sealing ring: Check for cracks, hardening, or permanent deformation. If the ring is loose in the groove or shows damage, replace it with a genuine Nesco sealing ring.
- Check steam release valve: Ensure the valve is correctly installed and set to the sealing position. Clean any food residue from the valve and its seat.
- Examine pot rim and lid: Look for dents or warping on the inner pot rim and cracks in the lid. Replace damaged components.
- Test with water: Run a short pressure cycle with only water and observe for leaks. A properly sealed cooker should emit only minimal steam during pressurization.
Warning: Do not apply grease or oil to the sealing ring; this can degrade the silicone and compromise safety.
