Possible Causes

Blocked pressure sensor port, Moisture in pressure sensor tubing, Failed pressure transducer on control board, Damaged wiring harness to pressure sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and ensure there is no pressure in the pot before inspecting any pressure components.

  • Release pressure: If the unit was in a pressure program, ensure all steam has been released and the float valve has dropped before opening the lid.
  • Clean pressure sensor path: On many Ninja pressure cookers, a small channel or port connects the cooking chamber to the pressure sensor. Remove the inner pot and inspect the central area and lid for small holes or channels. Use a soft brush or toothpick to clear food residue (do not enlarge the hole).
  • Dry condensation: Allow the unit to air dry for several hours in a warm, dry area in case moisture has entered the sensor path.
  • Test with water only: Add 2 cups of water, close and lock the lid, and run a short pressure cook cycle. If E04 reappears, the sensor or control board is likely faulty.
  • Do not bypass safety: Never attempt to bypass the pressure sensor. Contact a professional for sensor or board replacement.
