Possible Causes

Misaligned lid, Defective lid lock microswitch, Damaged lid hinge, Debris on lid locking hook

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the OBH Nordica multicooker before inspecting the lid mechanism.

  • Check lid alignment: Open and close the lid several times. Ensure the lid is fully lowered and the handle is in the locked position. On many OBH Nordica models, you should hear a distinct click from the lid lock.
  • Inspect the lid lock hook: Look at the metal or plastic hook on the lid and the latch slot on the body. Remove any food residue, dried sauce, or rice grains with a soft brush and a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly.
  • Test the lid lock switch: With the unit unplugged, gently press the lid lock tab (on the body) with a non-metallic tool and listen for a click from the internal microswitch. If there is no click or it feels loose, the lid lock assembly may be faulty.
  • Check hinge and lid seal: Make sure the hinge is not bent and the silicone gasket is seated correctly so the lid can close fully.
  • Reset and test: Plug the cooker back in, close the lid firmly, and start a simple program (e.g. warm or steam). If E1 persists, the lid lock microswitch or wiring likely needs replacement.

Warning: Do not bypass or short the lid lock switch; this is a critical safety device that prevents opening under pressure.
