Possible Causes
Inner pot not seated correctly, Cooking with too little water, Food stuck and burning on heating plate, Faulty thermal fuse or thermostat sticking
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before touching internal parts.
- Check inner pot placement: Ensure the OBH Nordica inner pot is the correct one for the model and is fully seated flat on the heating plate. Remove any foreign objects (cloth, spoon, foil) under the pot.
- Inspect for burnt-on food: Remove the pot and check the underside and the heating plate for burnt food or sugar. Clean the heating plate gently with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Do not scratch the surface.
- Verify water level: When cooking rice, grains, or pressure dishes, ensure you meet the minimum water requirement specified in the manual (often at least 250 ml). Running the cooker nearly dry can trigger E3.
- Reset thermal protection: Some models have an auto-reset thermal cut-out on the heating plate. After cooling, the unit should reset automatically. Plug back in and test with 1–2 cups of water only.
- If E3 persists: The thermal fuse or thermostat on the heating plate assembly may be weak or failing and should be checked and replaced by a qualified technician.
Warning: Never bypass thermal fuses or thermostats; they prevent fire and overheating.
