Possible Causes

Blocked steam release valve, Clogged safety valve, Excessive food volume above MAX line, Thick sauces foaming and blocking vent

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Allow the cooker to fully depressurize and cool before disassembling any pressure components. Keep hands and face away from steam vents.

  • Check fill level: Ensure you are not filling above the MAX line on the inner pot, especially with beans, grains, or foamy foods.
  • Clean steam release valve: Remove the steam release knob or valve cap (depending on OBH Nordica model). Wash it under warm water, using a brush to clear any food particles from the vent path.
  • Inspect safety valve: Remove the inner lid and locate the spring-loaded safety valve. Make sure it moves freely up and down and is not stuck with dried food. Clean thoroughly and reassemble.
  • Avoid foaming foods under high pressure: For thick sauces or porridge, use lower pressure or open-lid cooking modes to reduce foaming.
  • Test with water: Run a pressure cycle with only water to confirm that E8 does not reoccur. If it does, the pressure control system may be malfunctioning.

Warning: Never block or tie down the steam release valve to stop it from venting.
