Steam Release Valve Maladjustment
High-pitched whistling or continuous hissing from the steam release area during pressure cooking.

Possible Causes
Steam release knob not fully in sealing position, Worn valve seal, Mineral buildup in valve seat, Excessive pressure due to blocked secondary vent
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep face and hands away from the steam vent. Do not attempt to cover the vent.
- Check valve position: Confirm the steam release knob is turned fully to the sealing position. Some hissing during pressure build is normal, but it should reduce once pressure is reached.
- Clean valve components: After cooling, remove the valve cap/knob and soak it in warm vinegar solution to dissolve mineral deposits. Clean the valve seat on the lid with a soft brush.
- Inspect valve seal: Check any silicone or rubber seals on the valve for cracks or hardening. Replace if worn.
- Verify secondary vent: Ensure the safety valve and anti-block shield (if present) are clean and not obstructed.
