Possible Causes

Inner pot not inserted, Inner pot warped and not contacting heating plate, Cooking with insufficient liquid, Stuck thermal cutoff or overheat sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to cool. Do not add cold water to a very hot dry pot.

  • Check inner pot placement: Ensure the ProCook inner pot is correctly seated, with its base flat on the heating plate. Remove any debris or burnt food from the plate and the bottom of the pot.
  • Verify liquid level: For pressure and rice programs, ensure you have at least the minimum liquid specified in the manual. Running the cooker dry will trigger E3.
  • Inspect pot condition: If the inner pot is warped, dented, or its base is no longer flat, it may not transfer heat correctly and can cause localized overheating. Replace the inner pot if damaged.
  • Reset and test: After cooling, plug in the cooker, add sufficient water, and run a short program. If E3 appears immediately, the overheat sensor or thermal cutoff may be faulty and require professional replacement.
