Possible Causes
Blocked steam release valve, Blocked float valve, Food foam clogging anti-block shield, Faulty pressure sensor calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to force the lid open. Unplug the cooker and allow pressure to drop naturally. Keep hands and face away from the steam release.
- Release pressure safely: Once the float valve drops, carefully move the steam release to Venting to ensure all pressure is released.
- Clean steam release valve: Remove the steam release cap/valve from the lid. Wash it under warm water, clearing any starch or food buildup. Ensure the vent path is fully open.
- Inspect float valve and anti-block shield: Remove the anti-block shield (metal cap) inside the lid and clean it thoroughly. Check the float valve pin moves freely and is not stuck with dried food.
- Avoid overfilling: For foamy foods (beans, pasta, porridge), do not fill above the recommended maximum. Add a spoon of oil to reduce foaming.
- Retest: Reassemble the lid components and run a water-only pressure test. If E5 recurs, the pressure sensor may be misreading and require replacement.
