Possible Causes

Open-circuit NTC thermistor on heating plate, Broken sensor wiring harness, Oxidized or loose sensor connector on main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and let it cool completely before opening the housing. Never work on a hot unit.

  • Power reset: Unplug the cooker for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in and try a simple program (e.g., Reheat). If E1 returns immediately, continue.
  • Check sensor wiring: Remove the inner pot and inspect the metal heating plate at the bottom. The temperature sensor (NTC) is usually in the center or attached to the plate underside. Open the bottom cover (screws under rubber feet) and locate the two-wire harness from the plate to the control board. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not corroded.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for broken, pinched, or burnt wires between the NTC sensor and the PCB. Repair or replace damaged wiring using high-temperature rated wire.
  • Test the NTC: With a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the NTC leads (disconnected from the board). A typical Redmond NTC is 50–100 kΩ at room temperature. If it reads open (infinite) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty and must be replaced.
  • Replace sensor assembly: If the NTC is defective, replace the bottom temperature sensor or complete heating plate assembly with a compatible Redmond spare. Reassemble the unit carefully, ensuring no wires are trapped.

If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or opening the appliance, contact an authorized Redmond service center.
