Possible Causes
Blocked steam release valve, Clogged safety valve or anti-block shield, Faulty pressure sensor on lid or body, Excessive food volume foaming and blocking vent
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: For pressure-capable Redmond multicookers, never force the lid open while under pressure. Unplug the unit and allow pressure to drop naturally.
- Release pressure safely: Once the float valve drops, open the lid carefully away from your face.
- Clean steam valve: Remove the steam release valve and anti-block shield (if fitted). Wash thoroughly with warm soapy water to remove starch and grease. Ensure all holes are clear.
- Check safety valve: Inspect the safety valve in the lid for free movement. It should not be stuck with dried food. Clean and reassemble.
- Avoid overfilling: Do not fill above the MAX line, and avoid foamy foods (e.g., porridge, beans) without sufficient oil or anti-foam measures.
- Inspect pressure sensor: On some models, a pressure sensor is mounted in the lid or body. If E5 recurs after cleaning, the pressure sensor or control board may need professional diagnosis and replacement.
