Possible Causes
Faulty lid lock microswitch, Misaligned lid locking mechanism, Broken lid lock actuator, Loose lid sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Do not attempt to bypass safety interlocks.
- Check lid closure: Ensure the lid is fully closed and rotated/locked according to the user manual. Gently press down on the lid while trying to start a program.
- Inspect lock mechanism: With the unit unplugged, open and close the lid while observing the lock hook and actuator. Look for broken plastic parts or misalignment.
- Test microswitch: Access the lid lock assembly from inside the lid or top cover. Locate the small microswitch that detects lid closed. Using a multimeter, verify that it changes state (open/closed) when the lid is locked.
- Adjust or replace: If the switch is functional but not actuated properly, adjust the lock mechanism position. If the switch is defective or physically damaged, replace the lid lock assembly or microswitch with a Redmond-compatible part.
