Multicooker beeps and displays E1 shortly after powering on; cooking will not start.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before opening any covers. Never work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.
Steps to check and correct:
- Power reset: Unplug the cooker for 10 minutes, then plug back in and try a simple program (e.g. Keep Warm). If E1 clears temporarily, the issue may be intermittent wiring.
- Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the inner pot and look at the center of the heating plate. Most Russell Hobbs multicookers use an NTC sensor mounted in the center or underside of the heating plate. Check for a loose or broken wire leading from the sensor into the body of the cooker.
- Check connector seating: With the unit unplugged, remove the bottom cover (usually several Phillips screws). Locate the small two‑wire plug from the NTC sensor to the control PCB. Reseat the connector firmly and inspect for corrosion or burnt marks.
- Measure sensor resistance (for advanced users): Using a multimeter on the kΩ range, measure across the NTC sensor leads. Typical room‑temperature values are around 50–100 kΩ depending on model. If the reading is infinite (open) or near 0 Ω (short), the sensor is faulty and must be replaced.
- Replace faulty parts: If the sensor is defective, replace it with a compatible Russell Hobbs multicooker NTC temperature sensor. If wiring is damaged, repair or replace the harness. If the connector on the PCB is burnt, the control PCB may also need replacement.
When to stop: If you see burn damage on the PCB or are not comfortable using a multimeter, stop and contact a qualified appliance technician.
