Possible Causes

NTC temperature sensor out of calibration, Sensor dislodged from heating plate, Thermal fuse partially open causing abnormal readings, Control PCB misreading sensor signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect from mains and allow the cooker to cool fully before inspection.

Steps:

  • Check for overheating signs: Remove the inner pot and inspect the heating plate and surrounding area for discoloration, burnt food, or melted plastic. Clean any burnt-on residue that may cause hot spots.
  • Verify sensor position: The NTC sensor should be firmly pressed against or embedded in the heating plate. If it has popped out of its clip or bracket, gently reposition it so it makes good thermal contact.
  • Clean contact area: Wipe the sensor tip and the plate contact area with a dry cloth. Do not use water or chemicals directly on the sensor.
  • Check thermal fuse: Many Russell Hobbs multicookers have a thermal cutoff (thermal fuse) attached to the heating plate wiring. Inspect it for signs of overheating or cracking. If open, it must be replaced with the same temperature and current rating.
  • Test again: Reassemble, plug in, and run a low‑temperature program. If E2 persists immediately, the sensor or control PCB is likely faulty.

Note: Replacing the control PCB or thermal fuse involves mains wiring and should be done only by qualified persons.
