Possible Causes
Food residue in lid lock mechanism, Warped lid components, Misaligned locking pin, Damaged lid handle assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Confirm that all pressure has been released before forcing the lid. Never force open a pressurized cooker.
Steps:
- Verify no pressure: Gently move the steam release valve to venting. If no steam escapes and the float valve is fully down, pressure is released.
- Gentle rocking: While holding the base steady, gently rock the lid handle back and forth within its limited movement range to free any stuck parts. Do not use excessive force.
- Inspect from inside: If you can slightly open the lid, look for food lodged around the locking pin or ring. Remove debris with a wooden or plastic tool.
- Post-release cleaning: Once opened, thoroughly clean the lid underside, locking ring, and pin with warm soapy water. Dry completely.
Repair: If the lid continues to jam, the lid lock mechanism or lid handle assembly may be warped or damaged and should be replaced.
