Possible Causes
Damaged silicone sealing ring, Debris on lid sealing surface, Misaligned lid, Worn or stuck float valve seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Keep hands and face away from escaping steam. Turn off and unplug the cooker before disassembly.
Steps:
- Inspect sealing ring: Remove the inner silicone sealing ring from the lid. Check for cracks, deformation, or hardening. Replace with a genuine Russell Hobbs silicone sealing ring if any damage is found.
- Clean sealing surfaces: Wipe the metal rim of the inner pot and the lid groove where the ring sits. Remove any food residue or starch.
- Check float valve: Ensure the float valve pin moves freely and the small silicone cap on it is intact. Clean any buildup and replace the cap if cracked.
- Correct lid alignment: Refit the sealing ring evenly, ensuring it is not twisted. Close the lid according to the alignment marks and lock fully.
- Test with water: Run a short pressure cycle with only water to confirm that pressure now builds and steam leakage stops.
