Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the cooker is unplugged and fully depressurized. Never open the lid while under pressure.
- Clean the steam release area: Remove the inner pot. Inspect the central steam outlet in the lid and the anti-block shield (small metal or plastic cap). Remove and clean it thoroughly to clear food debris.
- Check the float valve: Make sure the float valve moves freely up and down and is not clogged with starch or residue.
- Access the pressure sensor: On many Salter pressure multicookers, the pressure sensor is mounted on the underside of the lid or inside the top housing, connected via a small silicone tube to the steam chamber. Remove the top cover screws and gently lift the cover.
- Inspect the silicone hose: Ensure the hose between the lid chamber and the pressure sensor is not kinked, split, or blocked. Clean or replace if necessary.
- Check the sensor connector: Confirm the pressure sensor plug is firmly seated on the control PCB. Reseat if loose.
If the sensor body is cracked or shows signs of moisture ingress, replace the pressure sensor assembly. After reassembly, run a water-only pressure test to confirm operation.
