Possible Causes
Float valve channel blocked with food, Damaged or missing float valve silicone seal, Steam release valve left in venting position, Lid not fully locked
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the cooker. Allow it to cool and depressurize before disassembling any lid components.
- Check valve position: Ensure the steam release valve is set to the 'Sealed' or pressure position according to the Salter model markings.
- Clean float valve: Remove the float valve pin and silicone cap from the lid (usually held by a small retaining clip). Clean all parts and the valve channel.
- Inspect silicone seal: Replace the float valve seal if it is cracked, hardened, or missing.
- Verify lid lock: Close the lid firmly until the locking mechanism clicks. A partially closed lid will prevent pressure build-up.
Reassemble and run a water-only test. If the float still does not rise, inspect the lid sealing ring and steam release valve for leaks.
