Possible Causes
New sealing ring curing, Plastic parts near heater overheating, Food residue on plastic drip tray, Blocked ventilation causing high temperatures
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good ventilation around the cooker when testing.
- Initial burn-in: For new units, run a water-only cycle 2–3 times to allow new parts to off-gas.
- Inspect plastic parts: Check the condensation collector, base feet, and wiring supports for signs of melting or discoloration.
- Clean thoroughly: Remove any food residue on plastic parts and the underside of the lid.
- Improve airflow: Ensure vents are not blocked and the cooker is not pushed against a wall.
If the smell is strong, chemical-like, and accompanied by visible melting, discontinue use and inspect for overheating components near the heater or replace affected parts.
