Possible Causes
Detached bottom NTC sensor from heating plate, NTC sensor out of calibration, Stuck heater relay, Poor contact between inner pot and plate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug and cool the cooker before inspection.
- Check inner pot: Ensure the Salter inner pot is not warped and sits flat on the heating plate. Replace if the base is bowed.
- Clean heating plate: Remove any residue or carbonized food from the plate to ensure even heat transfer.
- Inspect NTC mounting: Access the base and verify that the NTC sensor is firmly clipped or screwed to the heating plate. A loose sensor will misread temperature.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to known good values (or another identical unit). Replace if readings are far off.
If the sensor is good and properly mounted but overheating persists, the heater relay on the control PCB may be sticking closed. In that case, replace the main control board.
