Salton Failure to Reach Pressure or Target Temperature

Display and buttons work, but the timer does not count down; cooker stays in preheat indefinitely.

Possible Causes

Steam leak at lid or valves, Insufficient liquid in inner pot, Faulty pressure sensor not detecting pressure rise, Temperature sensor not reaching threshold due to poor contact

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Avoid opening the lid until you are sure pressure is low or released.

  • Check for leaks: Listen for continuous hissing around the lid or steam release valve. Reseat the sealing ring and ensure the valve is in sealing position.
  • Verify liquid level: Ensure there is at least the minimum recommended liquid in the pot for the selected program.
  • Clean lid components: Remove and clean the steam release valve, float valve, and anti-block shield to ensure free movement and proper sealing.
  • Test with water only: Run a pressure program with 2–3 cups of water. If the timer still never starts, the pressure or temperature sensor may be faulty.

Persistent failure to reach pressure despite proper sealing and liquid indicates a sensor or control issue requiring service.
